Dr. Matshidiso Moeti talk dis one on April 7th in commemoration of the World Health Day as him hail all di Member States, partners, and stakeholders wey support and ginger dem during dis celebration.
Him yan say di celebration na time to look back on top di achievements wey WHO don achieve for public health over di last 70 years, and also to gada energy to tackle di health wahala wey still dey ground for di next 75 years.
For dis year celebration, di theme na “My Health, My Right” wey show say health na one fundamental right wey everybody suppose get access to. Him use di celebration to remind people of how dem don improve health rights for Africa.
Him also hail di progress wey dem don make for di past ten years, especially for di decrease for maternal mortality ratio, di increase for life expectancy, and di reduction for pikins wey dey die before dem reach five years. Plus, di decrease for new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths and TB deaths. Dr. Moeti yan say, between 2011 and 2021, di number of new HIV infection don reduce by 44% and death wey HIV/AIDs dey cause don also reduce by 55% also di TB death don reduce by 26%.
Dr. Moeti still salute di efforts wey Member States dey make to quicken progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) with reforms for health policies and implementation of health insurance schemes.
