Presido Buhari on 19th May 2022 signed di National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) bill into law. Dis new law talk say every pesin wey dey live inside obodo Naija must have health insurance. According to Section 14(1), “Subject to the provisions of this act, every person resident in Nigeria shall be required to obtain health insurance.”
Dis new law also created di Vulnerable Group Fund (VGF) wey go provide moni to “subsidize” cost of health care for people wey dey vulnerable. Section 25 of NHIA law introduce a new tax of not less than 1 kobo per second of GSM calls wey go join other government moni and donations to be used for VGF.
