Surprise news dey for town as di Ebonyi State Government don take over di Presbyterian Joint Hospital Uburu. For inside a letter wey di Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezurike write to di Medical Superintendent of di Presbyterian Church on 4th September 2020, di state government say make dem pack dia kaya and ngwongwo komot for di hospital. Di commissioner talk for inside di letter say dem go take over di hospital from Monday 7th September wey just pass “for the purpose of establishing General Hospital Outreach, Uburu.”
Di letter no state di reason why Ebonyi State government take this action, but some Uburu people tell us that dem community gave di land to di Church of Scotland in 1912 for 100 years, and Presbyterian bin take am over and since di 100 years expired in 2012, dem no shake bodi to renew di ownership till Governor David Umahi cancel am. Presbyterian Church talk say no be community bin give di land to di church, but na 2 families bin dash di land to them. People don dey react differently to dis takeover, some in support, others against am.
