The Edo State Government don finish plans to commence the administration of the measles vaccine second dose (MCV2) for pikins between ages 15 to 23 months to reduce cases of infant mortality and morbidity inside the state.
Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Imuwahen Mbarie, say the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki go flag-off the campaign for Stella Obasanjo Hospital Field, Benin City by 11am on Thursday, 14th November 2019.
She talk say the vaccination go take place for various health and outreach centres across the state, begging parents and caregivers to visit health centres closest to them and immunise their children.
Mbarie say measles na the most infectious human disease, e dey cause serious illness, lifelong complications, and even death. The second dose vaccination dey necessary because, single dose vaccine at nine months of age no dey enough to achieve total immunity, and e dey lead to periodic measles outbreak.
