Lagos state government dey target 20,000 residents for the one week long HIV Testing Service as past of the activities to mark this year World AIDS Day on 1st December 2019.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency, LSACA, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, say them dey target a minimum of 1000 persons for each of the 20 Local Government Areas inside the state, especially for far-far communities.
So far, for inside this year, the State, in collaboration with implementing partners don provide HIV Testing Services to 101,123 clients for communities (non-health sector) and 408,817 clients for the facilities (health sector) with over 78,080 clients wey currently dey on treatment.
This year World AIDS Day theme na: “Community makes the Difference”, Adeleke say na in recognition of the global trend for HIV intervention to eliminate new infections, discrimination, and AIDS-related deaths, wey the Agency don scale-up community outreach campaigns wey dey in line with this year’s theme.
Adeleke say the Agency dey conduct Free HIV Testing Services towards attaining early HIV detection and treatment in line with the global target of epidemic control by 2020.
